Stepping up! Our Christchurch team takes on City2Surf 2025

Every year, thousands of people come together to run, walk, and soak up the incredible atmosphere of Christchurch’s City2Surf. Whether you're pushing for a personal best, having a laugh with your teammates or just enjoying the energy of the event, it’s an epic way to get active and celebrate our awesome community.
This year, seven members of our Christchurch team laced up their runners and hit the pavement for the CORDE City2Surf and what a day it was! The sun was shining, the vibes were high and our team had an absolute blast making their way to New Brighton Beach. There’s something special about a team that’s keen to spend their weekend smashing goals together and we have to say, they looked pretty sharp in their Trade Assist kit!
But it wasn’t just about the run. This year’s City2Surf supported Home & Family, New Zealand’s second oldest charity, which does incredible work to ensure all tamariki are safe, cherished and given the opportunity to take charge of their lives. Home & Family consistently adapt to the changes within our community to deliver meaningful services through unique, essential and relevant programmes that focus on protecting childhoods whilst creating stronger families and communities. Here are some important data that helps us understand why Home & Family are so passionate about their work, especially in the Canterbury region:
295,000 children in New Zealand live beneath the poverty line.
Police in Canterbury receive a domestic violence call out every four minutes.
On average, 15 children are placed in care every day in New Zealand.
Nearly half the people living in women's refuge in New Zealand are children.
New Zealand has the highest youth suicide rate in the developed world.
In 2017, 80% of primary school-aged children in Christchurch displayed symptoms of PTSD.
Children with a parent in prison are five times more likely to commit crimes than their peers.
Taking care of our wellbeing while giving back to the community is a rewarding experience and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend the weekend. Bring on 2026, we’re ready to do it all over again!
