Fire & Emergency NZ is taking on the 'Relay For Life' to raise funds for the Cancer Society

Changing lives by day, and saving lives by night. Our very own senior firefighter, Simon Luke.

Meet Simon, our very own recruitment consultant, based in Wellington. By day Simon goes out of his way to make sure our workforce is well looked after and partnered with a role that can change their life for the better. Once the hard hat comes off there's no rest as Simon trades this for a Fire Fighting helmet.

This year Simon is participating in Relay For Life to help raise funds for the Cancer Society. Simon and his team from FENZ Wellington are taking on the challenge this coming Saturday and would love your support.

Simon's Firefighting Journey

Here’s a bit about Simon and how he became a volunteer firefighter: Simon's journey into firefighting began when he was a kid in Ireland, dreaming of driving those big red fire trucks. But it wasn't until about six years ago in Wellington that he finally got the chance to make that dream a reality.

Now, Simon isn't just putting out fires; he's also a senior firefighter, responsible for overseeing both Built and Natural environments. Outside of firefighting, Simon leads the community events team at his station, teaching fire safety at schools and visiting homes to ensure everyone's safety.

We're lucky to have Simon on our team, both in the office and out there making a difference! 💪🔥
